6 Intuitive Gifts: Understanding Your Spiritual Abilities

We all have intuitive gifts... spiritual abilities that allow us to perceive beyond that of our five senses. Which of these six intuitive gifts do YOU possess?

1) Claircognizance

Claircognizance is defined as "clear knowing", having a knowledge or understanding of something that you are unable to retrace back to a cognitive origin. One of the most common of the "clairs", it can often feel like a challenge to explain your decisions or feelings to others. You may know you should or shouldn't be going to a certain place at a certain time, or have a feeling that someone is or isn't an individual that you should spend your time with. You may often find yourself saying or even thinking, "I'm not sure why or how... but I just KNOW."

When we're surrounded by logical and analytical minds, the need to validate your decisions or experiences to others can feel like quite the burden. It isn't always easy for others to understand your seemingly impulsive decision making methods. By tapping into your intuitive knowing, you're trusting yourself more deeply than you are depending on others' opinions or judgement.

2) Clairsentience

Clairsentience is clear feeling... when you're able to physically or emotionally feel intuitive messages and spiritual guidance. You may be emotionally affected by the feelings of not only those around you, but from spiritual beings as well. You may pick up on the "vibes" of a place you've never been before with ease. Guidance and messages come through in the form of emotion, with the awareness that these feelings are not your own.

3) Clairaudience

Clairaudience is known as clear hearing. Some with this ability are able to hear others' thoughts and emotions as clearly as if they were speaking out loud. Some clairaudient individuals hear messages as though they are the voice of their own thoughts. One important question to as when you suspect you may be hearing a message is the suddenness of the thought itself. If a seemingly random thought pops into your head that does not follow your existing train of thought, nor is it stimulated by something you sensed in the physical world, it is likely a clairaudient message.

4) Clairalience & Clairgustance

These intuitive gifts are as related as the physical sense of smell and taste, which is why they're listed together! Often when a person experiences one, they also have a tendency toward the other as well. Perhaps you spontaneously smelll your friend's favorite flower at a time when they could really use your guidance and support, or have the taste of your grandmother's prized cookies randomly appear on your tongue when her spirit is near. These senses are tied closely to memories, and nothing quite takes us back to a certain place in time like scents and flavors... making them wonderfully identifiable communication tools from our intuition or spiritual visitors.

5) Psychometry

Psychometry is the ability to pick up on emotions or associations from a physical object, simply by touching it. If you have psychometric abilities, you may be comforted by or experience negative emotions when thrift shopping... not necessarily because of your own feelings about the object, but because you are picking up on the energy of a previous owner.You may notice yourself feeling differently upon wearing a hand-me-down piece of clothing, or picking up on the energy of those who spent time on that lightly used furniture you found at a garage sale. Some feel overwhelmed by the feelings brought about from a piece of heirloom jewelry or when holding a book that belonged to someone else. On the other hand, this gift allows one to understand others in an interesting way. You may be able to learn about a departed ancestor'slife or understand a friend's experience in a way otherwise unknown. Sometimes even a brand new item holds negative energy if made unethically or in an unhappy environment.

6) Animal Communication

This intuitive ability can include all of the "clair" gifts. Intuitive communication with animals is no different than intuitive communication with people, except for our reliance on changed behaviors or owner validation of our findings.
